Blythedale Children’s Hospital is one of only 19 pediatric specialty hospitals in the United States. As New York’s only freestanding specialty children’s hospital, Blythedale is dedicated to improving the health and quality of life of children with medical complexity, not only through superb multi-disciplinary patient care, but also through teaching, research, and advocacy programs. Blythedale’s board-certified physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff (social workers, respiratory therapists, clinical pharmacists, Child Life specialists, etc.) and New York State’s largest hospital-based pediatric therapy department work together to provide intensive and innovative clinical and therapeutic care to patients. Together, its specialized staff helps children achieve their medical and rehabilitative goals for independent living so that they can return to their communities. Through its unique programs, the hospital serves more than 2,500 children a year. Blythedale is also the only hospital in New York State with its own, on-site public school district. This year, Blythedale is proud to celebrate its 125th anniversary.
BTIG COLLABORATION AND IMPACT:
For the past six years, Blythedale Children’s Hospital has been a recipient of donations through its partnership with BTIG Charity Day. With BTIG’s support, Blythedale Children’s Hospital has invested further into its robotic research for cerebral palsy and hemiparesis, social work services, and recreation therapy program. BTIG was also fortunate to have participated in a volunteer project with Blythedale Children’s Hospital in 2015. Employees from the New York office spent time with patients playing games and making crafts. It was an amazing opportunity for BTIG employees to meet some extraordinary children and a talented team of caregivers. Blythedale Advisory Board member Tony Richardson, a former New York Jet, has also acted as a celebrity guest trader on BTIG Charity Day fielding calls alongside the firm’s institutional traders on behalf of Blythedale Children’s Hospital.
“All of us at Blythedale are incredibly grateful to BTIG for the opportunity to participate in this exciting and unique event. We are truly honored to be a beneficiary once again in 2016.”
–Larry Levine, Blythedale Children’s Hospital President and Chief Executive Officer
