BTIG Announces Launch of Blockchain and Cryptocurrency-Related Company Series – A Detailed Look Inside the Digital Asset Ecosystem

New York – May 7, 2021 – BTIG announced today that the firm will be hosting a monthly fireside chat series focused on blockchain and cryptocurrency-related companies. Each month, a senior executive from a presenting company will provide a detailed overview of their business model and technology, and participate in a Q&A. This new product offering expands BTIG’s presence in the cryptocurrency and blockchain-related company space.

Over the past few years, BTIG has broadened and diversified its offering on stocks with blockchain and cryptocurrency exposure, and now offers resources across Research and Corporate Advisory services. BTIG aims to become a global thought leader to meet the demands of institutional investors and corporate clients focused on cryptocurrency. Currently, BTIG has 19 offices around the world and more than 235 sales professionals interacting with over 3,500 institutional clients worldwide.

In the last three years, BTIG has participated in the formation of and invested in industry-leading financial services and technology firms focused on cryptocurrency and the digital asset market. Starting as a founding member of the Association for Digital Asset Markets (ADAM), BTIG followed with an investment and subsequent partnership in NYDIG, the Bitcoin subsidiary of Stone Ridge, an investment in Anchorage, a full-service financial platform and infrastructure provider for the digital asset space, and an investment in Symbiont, a host to an enterprise blockchain platform.

The BTIG Research offering related to companies with blockchain and cryptocurrency exposure has expanded rapidly. Mark Palmer is the Senior Research Analyst at BTIG building out a core focus on cryptocurrency-related companies. He provides comprehensive coverage across a broad array of subsectors within the crypto sector including blockchain technology, cryptocurrency solutions, digital payments and financial services. His expanding list of coverage includes Coinbase Global, MicroStrategy Inc, PayPal Holdings Inc and Square Inc. Mr. Palmer has experience as an analyst and portfolio manager in both equities and high-yield/distressed debt. He brings to BTIG a depth of knowledge and experience that allows him to thoughtfully explore and explain this sector.

Additionally, within Research, strategist Julian Emanuel provides top-down macro analysis of broad market trends, sectors, valuation and volatility across cryptocurrencies, U.S. equity markets and U.S.-listed derivatives. Prior to BTIG, Mr. Emanuel was Head of U.S. Equity and Derivatives Strategy at UBS. Previously, he accumulated over two decades of experience as a Portfolio Manager, Risk Manager and Proprietary Trader.

“We are excited to see the brand of BTIG grow within cryptocurrency and blockchain-related company research spearheaded by Mark and Julian,” commented Ryan Serwin, CFA, Director of Research at BTIG. “They are proven thought leaders whose focus and insight on this growing space has proven to be an invaluable resource for our clients.”

The BTIG Investment Banking team focused on cryptocurrency and blockchain-related companies is in active dialogues as the outreach to BTIG by companies seeking capital or strategic advice has been accelerating. Robert Fellinger leads the BTIG Investment Banking effort with clients in the blockchain/cryptocurrency-related space. Prior to BTIG, Mr. Fellinger was a Founding Partner at Blocklink Ventures, a data-driven digital asset investment management firm that employed a multi-strategy approach to the nascent asset class, making seed-stage investments in new protocols and applications.

BTIG continues to add seasoned professionals across all divisions and regions and expects continued growth in this rapidly expanding area as clients continue to seek more information about blockchain and cryptocurrency-related companies.

“Our clients are our top priority. Cryptocurrency and blockchain-focused companies and investors are seeking independent and differentiated research. With a full commitment to understanding the growth of this sector, BTIG hopes our clients benefit from our efforts,” commented Scott Kovalik, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of BTIG.
