BTIG Expands Investment Banking and Capital Markets Group Hires William Buchanan and Graham Powis, K.C. Stone Promoted

New York — July 21, 2014 — BTIG LLC, a global financial services firm specializing in institutional trading, investment banking and related brokerage services, announced today that it has hired William Buchanan and Graham Powis as part of the expansion of its Investment Banking and Capital Markets groups.

William B. Buchanan, Jr. has joined BTIG as Head of Investment Banking. Bill has spent the last seven years as CEO of Lazard Capital Markets in New York. Prior to Lazard, Bill worked at Cowen for eight years running Capital Markets. Graham Powis has joined BTIG as Head of Capital Markets. Graham spent the last seven years at Lazard as Head of U.S. Equity Capital Markets. Prior to that, he worked at Cowen for nine years where he ultimately ran the firm’s Equity Capital Markets division.

BTIG also announced the promotion of K.C. Stone to Head of Healthcare Investment Banking. K.C. joined BTIG’s Corporate Finance group in 2012 as a Managing Director. Prior to that, K.C. worked at Wedbush where he ran the Life Science Investment Banking group. Prior to that, he ran the Private Placement groups at Wedbush PacGrow and Pacific Growth Equities.

The addition of Bill, Graham and the promotion of K.C. represent BTIG’s latest moves to expand its investment banking and capital markets efforts. In addition, BTIG has been recently expanding their research capability, which now includes tenured professionals and publishing research analysts covering global strategy, technical strategy, consumer, financials, healthcare, media, entertainment, cable and satellite, internet, communications equipment, telecom services and special situations sectors. This month BTIG also hired Hartaj Singh as a Biotechnology Analyst and Dane Leone as a Diagnostics and Life Sciences Analyst.
